RII8001 English for Academic:

EUC8002 Persuasion in action: Navigating the 17 SDGs Through Effective Communication:

RII8003 Exam Preparation for School Application:

Theoretical and practical course, framed within the development of the four English language skills in an international academic context. Its linguistic level corresponds to CEFR B1+/B2. This class incorporates the presentation and analysis of cultural and academic aspects that are distinctive of English-speaking countries. Likewise, it assesses language production in academic tasks, which aims at demonstrating linguistic control over oral and written texts in the students’ disciplinary areas.

In this course, students will develop persuasive communication strategies as they work on proposals offering potential solutions to problems linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the UN. These global challenges will be approached in an interdisciplinary manner and addressed using various methodologies, such as lectures, team-based learning, case studies, and simulations. The development of these strategies will be assessed through oral presentations, debates, essays, exit slips, and an audiovisual project.

Theoretical and practical course that aims to train students in the four linguistic skills of English for a successful performance in standardized test taking for academic purposes. The exams students will prepare for are IELTSTM and TOEFL iBT®, which commonly regard the CEFR C1 level as the minimum accepted level of achievement. Both exams have similarities, but it is essential to identify and distinguish among their different types of tasks to answer questions correctly. At the end of the semester, after exposure to and constant practice of both exams, students will be able to determine which one best suits their predominant learning style.
